HLV Uglen successfully performed lifting operations on behalf of Nymo AS for installation of Johan Sverdrup drilling derrick structures
Ugland Construction was awarded by Nymo AS (part of The J.J. Ugland Companies) the drilling derrick lifting contract for the Johan Sverdrup project.
The scope included the following items from the transportation vessel at Nymo quay onto the skid-base:
Upper and lower section were discharged from the MV Damgracht which transported the derrick sections from Korea to Grimstad. HLV Uglen’s main boom was used for the discharge operations.
For the installation of the lower part of the derrick, upending and installation of the hydra-racker and installation of derrick upper part onto the skidbase, Uglen’s 126 meter high lift boom was used. All three installations took place on 3rd and 4th of March 2017.
The high lift boom sections are normally stored at Ugland’s storage site at Forsand. The high lift boom sections were transported on barges to the lifting site and erected before the lifting operations.
